Aldy maulana (1991) is a composer based in Yogyakarta.
Aldy’s music composition is influenced by and everyday life style of urban society which is implemented into something metaphoric and then compiled into a procedural musical composition in the preparation of various compositional aspects such as material, structure and form.
Aldy completed his undergraduate and master’s degree in Music Composition at the Indonesian Institute of the Art in Yogyakarta under the guidance of Royke B Koapaha and Djohan Salim, and studied Cultural Studies and Aesthetics at the Postgraduate School of Sanata Dharma University.
Aldy attended several composition workshops with Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Multilateral, Manila Composers Lab, Indonesian Art Summit, Sound Adventure and composition masterclass with composers Slamet Abdul Sjukur, Roderick De Man, Chung Shih, Vincent Mc Dermott, Otto Sidharta, Jack Body, Johannes Schoelhorn , Manfred Stahnke, Dieter Mack, Jonas Baes, Chong Kee Yong, Kim Ngoc Tran, Wen Deqing, Jiradej Setabundhu, Gatot Danar Sulistyanto and Michael Asmara.
Aldy Music was selected in various international festivals and competitions, such as, Gaudeamus music week Utrecht, Netherlands. Asia Composers League 2016. Setts # 4 in Singapore, Yogyakarta Contemporary Music Festival, October Meeting competition composition, Goethe Institute; New Music From Yogyakarta, Hanoi, Indonesian Composers Week 2019.
Aldy also collaborated with Dancers, Filmaker and various musicians such as Asep Hidayat (Cello), Doris Hohschied (Cello), Frans Van Ruth (Piano) Ripieno Ensemble The Philippines, and Grangi guitar duo to work together to play his latest works.
He is currently completing several of his music projects as Curator of Ascoltate Music, an “Essential Music Studies” educational music program, establishing “Musicpod Podcast” and forming the Ensemble of The New Yogyakarta Contemporary Music Ensemble (TNYCME).
